Hey, Let's Get Listening Centers for Our School Library
My students need 5 listening centers to use for both group and individual listening in our school library. Our school librarian has fantastic literacy activities for students and parents to use with these new listening centers!
I have 20 first grade students who are eager to learn about the world around them. My students come from a wide range of economic and racial backgrounds. So I truly have a microcosm of American multiculturalism which is exciting to teach.
My students love learning to read and write.
They enjoy reading to themselves and each other. Also, my students enjoy listening to all types of literature and discussing the story elements. Since the beginning of school, my students are able to write at least three sentences on a focused topic. Also, my students are learning how to edit their own writing.
My Project
These listening centers will benefit students in all grades at our school. Also, these listening centers will encourage and support literacy in our students. Students will be able to listen to both fiction and non-fiction text together guided by our school librarian. Students will have the opportunity to listen individually or as an group, and then discuss the text with the librarian.
Having these 5 listening centers in our school library will provide students in TK-5th grades guided support in all subject areas, but especially in Language Arts.
Also, our school librarian will have the opportunity to guide students and parents to work together to explore the wonderful world of literacy as they use the listening centers together.
