Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In a low SES school, my students struggle with life. Caring about school is not a priority; surviving is. I want to give them the desire for learning technology. I want them to know that a better future is possible.
In my school, over 99% of the students are Hispanic (most of which are ELL, immigrants, and migrants), and over 99% are economically disadvantaged.
These students come from various backgrounds. With low scores in math and science, I want to ensure that my students have a chance in life. Some of these students do not believe in themselves. And thanks to you, many of my students change their mindset by giving them many opportunities through DonorsChoose.org.
My Project
The idea of interactive stories have always existed... But, never like this. No more turning the page back to the fork of the story. A voice activated story is the way to go. The idea is to have students collaborate using Google Docs to create a story related to local events (could be about our high school, community, or local society). Each group will have a chance to choose.
With Google Home, the story will come to life through voice interaction.
Without having to code, the creation of the story will be through Google Docs, but, the actual story itself will be all Google Home. Because of it's simplicity, the focus will be on the story itself and not the coding behind it... because there is no coding.
Plus, my students create a podcast episode once a month. It would be nice to talk to Google Assistant as part of the podcast so my students can tell their story in an innovative way.
