This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a SPED teacher and baseball coach in Baytown, Texas. Being a Title I school, most of our students come from low-income households. A lot of our students are eligible for free or reduced lunches.

Like many areas of Houston, some of our students were hit hard by Hurricane Harvey.

While some were fortunate enough not to get too hard, others were not as fortunate. Our campus itself had some water come into our gym.

We are a small 6A school and need better equipment to compete at this level. Being a 6A program we go against some of the top programs in the great state of Texas.

My Project

Our athletes love baseball and are using it as an outlet to get away from problems in and around them. Some are still dealing with the effects from Harvey.

For our baseball teams, I am in need of new bars for the weight room.

One of the things we want to emphasize on our team is getting stronger by lifting weights. We have a very small weight room and even smaller budget to properly equip it. We need a hexagon bar in our weight room, for various lifts we may use during our workouts.

Working out is an essential part of our athletic development. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
