This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students, on average, only own 3 to 4 books at home. Help bring Rick Riordan's fabulous world of Half-Bloods and Greek gods to them. The incredible story of Percy Jackson will grab them with its exciting plot line and irresistible incorporation of Greek mythology.

My awesome 7th grade students attend a public school in a high-poverty area of Northern California.

Many of them may not have a lot of money, but they have huge hearts. Most of them are determined to go to college. They are making big gains in reading and are ready to be struck by "Lightning"!

My Project

The incredible story of Percy Jackson/The Lightning Thief will grab students' attention and introduce them to the captivating world of Greek mythology. In addition to novel study, students will learn about and begin to appreciate the richly imaginative world of ancient mythology. They will research and present reports on Greek gods after reading the novel.

Do you think it's important to light a fire in students' imaginations?

Reading "The Lightning Thief" will spark their interests in the amazing world of Greek mythology. Not even reluctant readers will be able to resist the story of Percy Jackson. Help motivate these terrific young people to discover how fun ancient mythology can be!
