About My Students

This project is written by an amazing eighth grader named Erick.

Erick is a proud nerd who has frequented our school library since Kindergarten. He is a fan of comic books, and over the years has given me (the librarian) a lot of advice about manga. Erick has become familiar with DonorsChoose.org, our main supplier of comic books. Now, sadly, Erick is in his final year at our K-8 center. He has become a library aide. Erick has decided he wants to give the school a parting gift: a brand new manga series for the library.

We are requesting two sets of the 15-volume Manga series 'My Hero Academia' for the school library. The project will be good for Erick. It will help him hone his writing skills. He is not afraid of expressing himself and is quick to put his ideas on paper but perhaps need a little practice organizing what he wants to say. Erick is going to face another challenge: he has to find ways to sell his project to the community. We'll see if he can make a video that we can post on our school's social media. And now....over to Erick.

In Their Own Words

My goal in this project is to get two sets of the 15-volume Manga series 'My Hero Academia' for the school library. This will encourage many students in my school to read more. Manga are the most loved books in the school library. I am in charge of the Manga section. I am always very busy shelving and arranging books. I like 'My Hero Academia' because it is appropriate for younger children and it has a positive message. Its hero reaches his goals through determination and perseverance.

I am very happy to choose this new Manga series for the library. Being a part of this project will help me speak my mind about how this book inspired me and how it can inspire others. I want to really push this message further and post it online for others to see.

I found out about these books through the original anime. When I first watched it, the story was amazing. It inspired me to try to achieve my dream. The main character was determined to become a hero even though he was powerless and he succeeded!

I want these books to spread the same inspiration to my fellow students. I know that lots of students will check them out because Manga is so popular. Please help me get these Manga for the library in my final year.
