This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Nelson Mandela believed, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world". As a teacher in a high poverty, low income, and increasing crime rate school district, I too agree with Mr. Mandela. My students face many challenges in and out of school. Despite the challenges they face daily, I am looking to ensure a fun, creative, and impactful learning experience.
My students love to dance, they love to read, and they really love to come to school.
Many of my students are being raised by family members other than their parents. Those who are fortunate to live with their parents, are living below the poverty rate. These factors may prevent them having the life experiences many of us see as "typical". My classroom has become a safe place where my students are encouraged to reach their fullest potential and grow. I may not be able to control their lives at home, however, I can control their experience at school. By providing a creative and fun learning environment, it is my hope to ensure my students reach their academic potential and much further than their present circumstances will allow them to imagine!
My Project
Being a hero to students is my yearly goal. This year I have challenged my students to be heroes. Being a hero ensures every students has everything ready and organized. These materials will assist with my students being organized and ready to learn! The rug ensures that they have a flexible place to lauch into their daily mission. The storage cart gives each student a quick yet stationary place to get materials needed to be successful in D.I. groups and in whole groups. I believe this project can and will make a difference in the lives of all of my students!
