Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach Kindergarten at a Title I public school where 100% of the students receive free lunch. Three of my 15 students are English Language Learners. Because of the pandemic, more students live under stressful circumstances, especially because they come from low income families. Their parents are immigrants so they are trying to adjust to a new culture and they also do not speak English. Some of these children have no parental figures, and others must care for their younger siblings. In spite of their circumstances, my students are eager to learn and love coming to school!
My Project
My kindergartners love to be rewarded for their academic achievement and effort. I am running low on treasure chest items that I can give to them. With your help, I'll be able to provide them with bubble wands, toy cars, mini plush toys, and other fun rewards that will motivate them to keep working hard in the classroom.
These treasure chest toys will encourage my students to do their best.
When my students complete their homework and assignments, when write nice sentences in their writing journals, they will receive a prize as a reward for their effort. My kindergartners will begin taking Accelerated Reader tests soon to quiz their reading comprehension. If they score an 80% or higher on their test, I will compensate them with treasure chest toys. The rewards will also be given to those students who continually demonstrate ideal classroom behavior such as raising their hand to speak and helping their classmates finish assignments and students who demonstrate their best effort.
