My Students

My students are a very diverse group of kiddos! 90% of my students are minorities, many of whom are proud first generation Americans. They are curious and eager to explore the world around them. They just need the opportunity! 100% of my kids receive free breakfast and lunch.

My Project

My scholars will be learning about various artists and seeing examples of their self-portraits. The kids love to create using canvases "like real artists". My students will not only be learning about important artists and their art styles, but also what movement each artist was a part of.

With 90% minority students and 100% on free lunch, my students do not often see themselves reflected in art.

Creating self-portraits will allow them to see themselves, both literally and figuratively. Please help my kids see that they are an important part of our world.
