My Project
A teenager spends around eight hours a day, five days a week, in a classroom. As a teacher, I like to do what I can to make my classroom a comfortable environment for learning.
Fluorescent lighting is standard in schools, but it doesn't create the best light for learning.
On top of completing reading and writing assignments for American Literature that challenge their minds daily, many of my students have migraines and anxiety, and are fighting through feelings of tension and stress. If I had covers to diffuse the harsh light created by fluorescent lighting, my classroom would have calming energy where students feel more comfortable, which would result in a greater depth of learning.
I can't change many circumstances for my students, but I feel like this small change could make a big difference to their day, and to their learning.
