This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In a classroom with nothing but smiles and happiness, it is hard to believe the struggles my students face on a daily basis. Many of my students are 1st generation Americans who are born to parents who came here for a better tomorrow for their family. We have such high expectations (which are met) to get our students to a point of great success. As their teacher I have limited resources with some necessary items. My students struggle with the English language, as most of them only speak it in school and have limited help at home due to the language barrier.
From the time they walk into my classroom, I see their great potential in which they all and want nothing more for them than that to flourish!
In my classroom, I have a classroom full of future Presidents, Doctors, Teachers, Mechanics, Nurses, Lawyers, and many, many amazing careers.
My Project
My goal for my students this year is to foster the love for learning and reading. Reading is the number one way for our students to increase their daily vocabulary. I want them to pick up a book and have that book take them on an adventure while sitting in a classroom or on their couch at home.
Imagination and adventure is the best asset our future has- the best way to learn this skill is by getting wrapped up in a great book.
I want my library and classroom to be a haven for them; a haven for safety, love, and creativity.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
