Herding Success: Onboarding Tools to Support Our Students

Help me give my students a stronger start to the school year by equipping staff with onboarding binders that promote clear expectations, consistent support, and a more connected school experience.

My Project

At CTKI, we believe that the success of our students starts with the support of our staff. This project will help me give our teachers and support staff access to the materials they need to stay organized, consistent, and connected throughout the school year. These binders, dividers, and sheet protectors will be used to create yearly-updated handbooks that help all staff access the key tools and expectations they need to succeed in our school community.

When teachers are equipped with clear communication tools, consistent expectations, and a quick reference for who to contact and what procedures to follow, they can focus more of their energy on what really matters: helping kids thrive.

These materials will help streamline routines and ensure that all staff are on the same page, creating a smoother and more unified experience for both staff and students.

Our school is emphasizing the "4 C's" this year—Communication, Clarity, Consistency, and Commitment—to better support student learning and emotional safety. The handbook is a key part of this mission. When our staff is aligned and empowered, our students benefit from more seamless classroom routines, stronger relationships, and fewer disruptions in their learning.

This project also supports my own professional development, as I’m currently earning my master's degree in Instructional Technology and Design. Not only is this helping me lead onboarding more effectively, but it’s allowing me to bring back fresh strategies and tools that will enhance instruction and benefit our students long term.

Most importantly, this training and the handbooks are designed to be used year after year. Even if I’m no longer at our school in the future, this system will remain in place—making it a lasting investment in preparing and supporting our staff so they can give their best to students from day one.
