My Students
The senior class at WWHS consists of a hard-working, close-knit community; they embody the true definition of a WIZARD - Wonderful, Inspirational, Zest for life, Admirable, Respectful and Dedicated. An ample amount of students attending WWHS come from a single-parent household with low income, as well as most of them being first-generation college students. Although, they are faced with many obstacles; students here manage to attend school full time, while also juggling a part-time job (in some cases multiple), along with being involved in the community through sports and clubs.
Last school year, the senior class became much closer than they ever were due to the sudden loss of a dear friend and classmate.
Together, they have been able to grieve over this tragic event and move forward with the help of teachers, administration and most importantly, each other.
My Project
Fostering a college-going culture at WWHS is something that I have been working on all year. This year, I want to utilize our launch day to motivate the future graduates of WWHS. With your generous donations, I am hoping to create a space to celebrate the seniors’ accomplishments thus far. I am hoping to purchase items such as snacks, decor and party favors.
Pictures and videos of this event will be shared on social media- In an era where social media plays a prominent role in the lives of young adults, I am hoping to use launch day to motivate the future graduates of WWHS and encourage them to pursue higher education while also celebrating the seniors this year and showing them how proud we are of their accomplishments.
