My students are striving to learn about the world around them. They want to get their hands on materials and learn through exploration. When the children go to their learning centers, they are wanting to learn about science and exploration.
My students are between 4 and 5 years old and at a variety of social, emotional, and cognitive levels.
They come from low-income housing and do not get as many opportunities as others to explore their world around them. These young children need to be able to have these experiences despite the financial backgrounds that they come from.
My Project
My students will be able to use the exploration tubes to learn about colors and wonder what happens when they mix together. They will be able to use higher-level thinking to figure out how gravity and magnets work together while they are creating roller coasters with a science kit. The kids will be able to use visuals and physical materials to explore weather, the 5 senses, mirrors, and much more with the other science materials.
These materials will assist the youngest of learners to gain confidence in trying new things out and learning about their environment around them.
They will learn through each experience that is presented but also challenge themselves and their peers to try out different outcomes.
