Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a speech-language therapist, I have the privilege of working with a diverse group of students, ages 3 to 11, who are eager to grow and communicate. Many of my students are developing foundational language skills, learning how to understand and express their thoughts through words, sentences, and social interactions. I also work with older students who are building their reading and writing skills to better access the classroom curriculum.

To support their progress, I use a variety of tools, including visual supports, sentence strips, and graphic organizers, which help make abstract language concepts more concrete.

One resource I am especially excited to incorporate is The Writing Revolution, a research-based approach that focuses on explicitly teaching sentence-level writing skills. This method aligns perfectly with my students’ language goals and will help them organize their thoughts, construct clear sentences, and develop confidence in expressing themselves through writing.

The materials available on Teachers Pay Teachers, created by experienced educators and therapists, have also been incredibly effective in keeping my students engaged and making meaningful gains.
