My Students

I teach energetic and curious high school students in a variety of life and earth science courses. They enjoy all types of hands-on labs, activities and investigations, especially those that allow us to collect real data in the field and community.

Students at our school are diverse, clever, cooperative individuals who are excited about science.

They come from a wide range of academic, socioeconomic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, creating a unique learning environment for all.

My Project

Help us learn more about how living things maintain homeostasis with engaging labs such as an earthworm dissection, a blood glucose feedback model, and a daphnia (water fleas) heart rate investigation. An important part of biology is understanding how other organisms work, and how these "weird" organisms are similar to and different from humans as living things. Through these labs, students will be able to explore the concept of homeostasis in a variety of living things and better understand the complex processes living things must carry out every day.

Since returning from remote schooling last year, my students have been begging to do dissections.

Dissections are usually the part of Biology class that most adults remember visually. By supporting this project, you can help my students learn through these hands on, minds on experiences. The best part is, the dissecting kit and trays will be reusable for years to come.
