My Students

Imagine you can not hold a pencil or a crayon. The ways these students can express themselves is limited. Tablets have some great programs that my students could use to write or draw with their finger. This program builds hand strength and finger dexterity.

My students are a diverse group of physically disabled children with a wide range of abilities and capabilities.

Some of my student are only slightly impaired. A couple are unable to write or even hold a pencil. There are programs for the tablets that will allow them to write using a finger. Just trying to use the one finger is difficult but can be done. It will also help them improve strength in their hands fingers and arms.

My Project

This activity will allow the student to be able to do things that are closer to their peers. It is so hard for them to finish a project. The tablets would allow the students to show work both academic and art work. The tablets also have the capability to use dragon speak. Dragon speak software would allow what they say to be put directly on the page. Dragon speak is a long term goal for the students. In the beginning the students need to understand the written word better before they would be allowed to use the more advanced programs.

My physically challenged student try so hard to do the things that a mainstream student does.

Getting these tools will go a long way to achieving these goals. I hope you will help us with this project.
