My Students

I teach eighth-grade math to special education and general education students. It is important to me to make math fun and not "intimidating" to my students. I want to make sure my students have access to the basic supplies they need to be successful in school.

I teach at a Title I school in New York where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students would benefit from having headphones so they can work quietly on their computer and STEM activities on the computer.

My Project

One of our advisory programs uses a program called Everfi which encourages STEM and Financial Literacy lessons.. These activities are done in the computer lab and headphones would be a helpful addition.

This program is interactive with games and the room can become quite noisy at times.

My students find it difficult to focus on their activity and suggested that we try using headphones. Not all students have their own set of headphones, so we decided to write a project for more headphones.

The STEM Program with Everfi focuses on digital literacy and responsibility, financial literacy, STEM readiness, coding and computer programming, and recently, an understanding money program. The program is interactive and the students will benefit from being able to drown out the background noise and focus on what is on their screen.
