Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are caring students and they like to help others. Being that a lot of immigrants are coming into our school without the necessary hygiene items to take care of themselves my students want to provide them with the different deodorants that they can use to stay fresh all day. My students will make welcome bags for the students to make them feel like a part of the school community.
Focusing on others will give my students a different perspective of empathy, gratitude, and self-worth toward others.
Open-mindedness is essential, it encourages my students to approach conversations and interact with others with an open mind, suspending judgment and being receptive to different viewpoints of others. This gives them a chance to get to know a person and to understand and consider someone else's feelings, and experiences. It involves stepping outside of their own perspective and trying to see the world from another person's point of view.
Students need to feel good about themselves and confident while in school and providing immigrant students with things they can and will help them feel relaxed and comfortable about their hygiene. Doing this will allow my students to be more willing and aware to help others who are in need.
Providing these students with the necessary hygiene items and snacks will help make them feel more accepted in the school environment. After completing the project I will ask my students to reflect on their experience while creating this project to redefine compassion to see what they learned about compassion and how it can benefit others.
