Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a barrier-free Title I funded school, home to over fifteen hundred students, with over seventy languages spoken. My children are resilient, dedicated, and determined to overcome any obstacles that they may need to overcome to soar to new heights. I am in awe of their perseverance and how they strive to be the best possible. To say that I am proud to be their teacher is truly an understatement.
This has started out to be a challenging year and as a school community, we have always made it a priority to help those in need.

My Project
With the advent of this pandemic and the devastation it has caused to NYC, it is imperative that we focus on helping those in need as so many people are struggling. These struggles include homelessness, poverty, loneliness etc. Our staff members and students historically have always rallied together to help others. We would like to continue to work together to help out our school community. Some of the ideas that we can work on include fixing up our school garden, collecting clothing to give to those individuals who do not have the proper attire to navigate this brutal winter, and making cards and/or visiting local nursing homes to show love to the residents there. The magazine rack will be used to store our resources, materials, books, and pamphlets that we will use to show our support for our amazing school community and help to get other volunteers to support our endeavors.
