Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of my students are very eager to learn. We have a close knit community with parents willing to contribute in ways they are able. I have eighteen five and six years olds. Most are Hispanic and are English language learners. Ninety percent of my students are on the free or reduced price lunch program. They come to school with open minds and open hearts. Families entrust in me to provide them with all opportunities for learning. These students deserve the opportunity to learn, to explore and to play while learning with centers in the classroom.
In our classroom, center time and parent nights are a time for learning and playing and I take that very seriously!

My Project
This machine would be extremely helpful for my students and their families. My students love morning work centers, Daily 5 centers and the materials I create for their families to play with them at home. During parent nights, I create materials and games to help get parents involved in their child's learning and to teach them ways to help/teach their children at home. Unfortunately, creating these is very time consuming and the materials I provide are limited for this reason.
With the scan and cut, I can help my students understand not only through direct instruction, but by providing materials to allow them to think about what they have learned on their own and at home with their family.
During morning work centers, Daily 5 centers and at home, students can work independently of my instruction to make sense of new information and practice using information and skills in useful ways.
