This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are in high school ranging from ages 13 to 21. We are a diverse group of students who are on the low income spectrum. Many of our students go without food and school supplies. We have several of our students and families who are homeless during this pandemic and during the holidays.
Our students become babysitters to much young siblings while trying to finish high school and graduate.
Most of our students come from one parent being at home.
My Project
These homeless students are working in crowded spaces with not a lot of lighting or an area that is set up for them to succeed. We are going to deliver the items as a surprise so they can at least set up some sort of workspace for themselves.
We are putting together care packages to make them feel like they are at
school instead of being in their situation. We are trying to keep things as smooth as possible during the pandemic and the loss of everything they know and believe.
