Helping Students with Dyslexia and Speech/Language Delays
Help me give my students decodable text to support their reading journeys, sensory strips to provide tactile stimulation for increased focus, and a label maker to improve organization and student independence within the speech therapy room.
This school year, I aim to provide my students with an organized and sensory stimulating environment that fosters learning and builds confidence. I want to provide my students with decodable text for supporting their literacy skills. Many of my K-2 students struggle in this area specifically. It is unfortunate that our schools offer a wide variety of leveled books, when our struggling readers are not taught the specific skills necessary for reading such texts.
Additionally, I aim to improve students’ organizational skills, as so many present with executive function delays.
In fact, could we not all use additional support in organization?
