Help me give my students these much needed art supplies. We do different projects where I teach with different media such as markers, crayons, oil pastels, watercolor paints, and acrylics while using the appropriate paper.
Students at my school are inspiring, compassionate, and creative. As intermediate art learners, art supplies are important to my students and are truly valued to complete projects and cover needed objectives, especially in these trying days with the obstacles they have had to face.
This is my second year teaching art at a middle school in a rural area.
Our school art supplies are an essential resource for my students. Many of my students do not have access to needed supplies at home and rely on myself and our school to supply those, especially after being affected by Covid. Families do not have the resources at home for students to complete projects and do not have the extra money to purchase supplies that are needed in the classroom for their student. Each day students ask for needed supplies that I am not currently able to furnish for them or send home with them. That is why I am starting this Donors Choose to help get those supplies.
My Project
I teach all fundamentals of art focusing on different artists, whether students are at home or in the classroom. Students do weekly projects where different types of supplies are needed. I stress creativity and give many students an outlet to express themselves. We work on shapes, lines, color, blending, etc. To do these projects, my students have to have supplies such as crayons, markers, paint, sharpies, and paper. I need these supplies to use in the classroom or send home to students who may need them to continue learning even when we are virtual.
Many students succeed in art, where they don't in other subjects.
This is why my art class is such an important part of my school and these students especially in these current trying years.
