Helping Students Thrive Emotionally

Help me give my students tools for developing strategies to manage their emotions while creating an environment where they feel safe, secure, and joyful."

My Project

During AIS (Academic Intervention Services) time, many of my students struggle with frustration and discouragement as they work through challenging reading tasks. Some become overwhelmed and shut down, making it difficult for them to fully engage in the learning process. That’s why I’m seeking support for tools that can help them regulate their emotions and re-engage with confidence and calm.

The items I’m requesting—squishy sensory toys, an emotion-identifying dot book, comforting plushies, and a weighted stuffed animal—are small but powerful tools for emotional support.

These resources offer students tactile and emotional comfort in moments of stress, helping them feel grounded and safe. Sensory toys give fidgety hands a positive outlet, while the emotion book helps students name and understand their feelings. Plushies and the weighted stuffed animal provide a soothing physical presence, which has a calming effect that can reduce anxiety and restore focus.

When students feel emotionally supported, they're more likely to return to reading with a clearer mind and renewed motivation. These items will create a supportive reading environment where every child feels safe, seen, and ready to learn. Your support will not only provide comfort—it will empower students to overcome emotional barriers and grow as confident readers.
