Helping Students Meet Basic Needs With Food and Clothing

Help me give my students snacks and clean clothing. When basic physiological needs are met, students are more prepared to learn at an optimal level.

My Project

My elementary school is a Title I school that serves a diverse population of students. Our student body comprises 90% students of color and 80% qualifying for free and reduced-price lunch. Additionally, we have 12% in transitional housing. As a school nurse, I see many students with basic needs insecurity such as food and clothing. When these needs are not met, it negatively impacts students' attendance, behavior, and academic success at school. My goal is to create an environment where I am equipped to provide students with snacks and clean clothes to help reduce this burden and stress in the school environment.
