This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
With Physical Education time being cut short by the high demands of ELA and Math, it is critical that the time the students do receive in PE class is purposeful and beneficial to all my children.
My students vary from ages 3-11 as I teach PK-4th grade.
Our families qualify for 90%+ free and reduced lunch. We are located in Newark, NJ and like many school districts across the state, we have been impacted with severe budget cuts. Many times PE supplies are no longer considered when the school creates their budget for the upcoming year. Our goal as a city, state, and country is to promote continuous physical activity to our children. My goal is to teach them the correct skills and techniques so that they will be able to continue to live a healthy and active lifestyle.
My Project
My students, just like many young children, struggle with proper technique when doing exercises. This can be problematic because it can lead to injury or just bad habits, which could be detrimental down the road. My students will use the Push-Up Training Mats to focus on proper technique. This is also one of the safest ways to build muscular strength among our young students. They will be using their own body weight when training their chest, triceps, and biceps muscle groups.
My students will be able to improve their upper body strength with this Training Mat as it will force students to complete a proper push-up. Furthermore, this will help promote excellent technique and lead them into a successful early fitness life.
Your donations will allow each student in my classes to receive a Push-Up Training Mat.
Donations received will also help students practice correct technique while avoiding injury. This Training Mat would be beneficial for ALL my students in grades PK-4!
