Helping Students Feel Successful in Reading

My Students

All 48 of my students are special in their own way, but they all have been impacted by COVID-19 in the sense that they all are at least two years behind in reading as far as my 2nd-5th graders go. My kindergarten and first graders are at least a year behind in reading. The impact of COVID has really played its part on my students. They all see that they are below grade level and want to be successful and confident in their reading. However, they just don't have the skills that they need without extra help from teachers like me.

My Project

The items that I would like to purchase will help my students become better readers and help build their self-confidence in reading. By purchasing the magnetic letters, magnetic whiteboards, pop-its, blends, and vowel team dominoes. My students will have the tools they need to practice their phonological awareness skills. Many of my students are at least one to two and a half years behind and don't have the necessary tools, skills, or teachers to help them fill in the holes they are missing. These items will help me as a teacher make learning more fun and enjoyable for them. While at the same time they are learning and using the skills in their classroom and at home.
