Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a continuation high school where students come to catch up on credits needed to graduate on time. Many have not attended school on a regular basis since middle school. Therefore, my colleagues and I have taken on the challenge of helping these students get back on track.

Most students are here because they were never inspired to care about school.

I believe this can change by simply providing them with interesting and engaging lessons. Therefore, it is my responsibility to make sure that I have supplied these students with the resources they need to be inspired. Your donation help me provide them with supplies that will inspire them to learn.

My Project

My school participates in PBIS, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, in order to establish a positive social culture needed for our students to achieve social, emotional and academic success. Our rewards system consist of tickets that the students earn from displaying positive behavior both inside and outside of the classroom. These tickets can be redeemed for a number of prizes, including the snacks and candy listed in this project. We have discovered that students love positive reinforcement and are very motivated through goal based rewards. PBIS truly rocks!

By donating to this project you will be helping to provide the resources necessary to reward students for their academic progress and therefore build a culture of learning.

What this means is that we are working with our students to promote positive behavior, and we want to recognize our students that display these characteristics. Our students glow with pride when they are recognized for their efforts. Students acting with respect, responsibility, safety, kindness, and collaboration are acknowledged and celebrated. Students are motivated to be positive members of our school community, and they are working hard to grow into positive members of their greater communities upon graduating from high school, which is the ultimate goal!
