Our students are Pre-K/EC and their ages range from 3-5 years. Our 4 classes are blended with children with different types of special needs (autism, developmental delays, fine and gross motor delays, speech delays, and other disorders). All of the students have some type of language and communication deficits. The students have difficulty understanding language and communicating their wants and needs. We use several augmentative communication devices, sign language to communicate, and picture symbols.
The school is a Title I school with 100% of the students on free and reduced lunch.
Most of the parents are single parents, which leaves little money to help with materials needed in the classroom.
My Project
The different bibs, plates/bowls, and cups are very much needed for our students. Many of our students are learning to be independent during feeding. The resources I requested will help the students work on their feeding skills in class. All the resources are modified to make sure the students are successful. The bowls, plates, and cups are special because the students can independently use them without falling on the floor or spillage. Many of the students also have swallowing issues and bibs will decrease the need to change their clothes because of drooling. Please help us work on the students' self-help skills. Thanks
