This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students and their families are really special! We have a large school, with an ethnically and socioeconomically diverse population, and we work hard to create opportunities for our community to get together to share their unique experiences and engage in and celebrate learning.

Because a majority of the families in our school live in poverty, we strive to create innovative learning experiences that build our community's collective repertoire.

We want to offer students at our Title 1 public school the same sorts of experience that students in rich public schools receive. We are focused on social justice and educational equity.

My Project

Our class works on a variety of project based units, and we are going to have a wonderful student teacher work alongside of us. Mr. M is an amazing student teacher, and he has lots of plans for teaching English in our classroom. One challenge he faces is having enough supplies to make his units come to life. With your help, Mr. M will have everything he needs to make the reading, writing, and artwork come to life.

The units that will be taught focus on creating peace with ourselves, each other, and the planet.

Mr. M will be planning and implementing hands-on learning that has real world applications such as writing to the President, making works of art, and using technology to research and present our ideas. Mr. M wants to make the teaching and learning in our room fun and engaging. Your support will provide this new teacher and all of students with the resources they will need to be successful.
