This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Being a pre-teen & teenager is hard. Students minds and bodies are rapidly changing and the materials they need such as hygiene products including deodorant, feminine pads, and basic hair supplies are not easily available to them. Majority of my students in 5th-8th grade come from families in which money is spent on basic living expenses including housing and food leaving little to money left for other items.

Sadly, many of my students struggle with not smelling the best which not only has a negative impact on their self-confidence but their attendance in school as well.

As a teacher, I want to make sure my kids do not have to worry about how they smell. I need my students to be focused on their education and ready to learn. I would love to have these items in stock for when a student might need it. Teenagers are easily embarrassed and not smelling their best can add to this embarrassment. By having these basic items available in the classroom, my students will be able to freshen up and continue with their school day.
