Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a Bilingual Early Literacy Tutor, I work with students from different grade levels. My students are dual-language learners, learning both Spanish and English. My students work with me in small groups to strengthen their Spanish literacy skills. My students love to read different stories, learning about the world around them, all while diving into a world of literature.

Nurturing the brains of bilingual elementary school children through reading is important for academic success in our community.

Reading is a foundation for successful readers; I want to develop a stocked classroom library of Spanish stories that expand my student's learning. My students read at different instructional levels, and with new books; All 30 of my students will have a book at their instruction level. I want all my students to become successful Spanish readers. With access to these materials and books in Spanish, my students will improve their Spanish literacy to become the best readers they can be.
