Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The matching field trip shirts will make a meaningful difference in my students’ learning by providing safety, organization, and a sense of belonging during our zoo visit. When students are easily identifiable, we can focus more on learning and less on logistics. The shirts also build excitement and pride, helping students feel like a team as they explore real-life connections to science topics such as animal habitats, adaptations, and conservation.

My goal for this project is to create a safe, memorable, and engaging learning experience that extends beyond the classroom walls.

The zoo field trip gives my second graders the opportunity to see animals up close, ask questions, and make meaningful connections to what we’ve learned in class. Having matching shirts allows us to move confidently through the zoo while keeping students together and focused, ensuring the day is both fun and educational.

My students are special because they are curious, energetic, and eager to learn, even though many come from low-income families and have limited access to enrichment experiences. For some, this zoo visit will be their first time attending a field trip of this kind. These shirts may seem simple, but they represent inclusion, excitement, and the chance for every student to feel proud, safe, and part of something special.
