Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my classroom with a large number of English Language Learners (ELLs), accessibility and organization are essential. Right now, books, writing materials, and supplies are stacked in bins or placed on high shelves, making it difficult for my young learners to find what they need. This leads to lost learning time, frustration, and classroom disruptions for my students.
A short storage bookshelf would transform our space by keeping materials organized and within reach.
First graders need to see, choose, and access their books and writing tools independently. Having a dedicated space for these essentials will reduce distractions, encourage independence, and foster a sense of responsibility for their learning.
For many of my ELL students, visual cues and easy access to materials make a big difference in their confidence and engagement. Instead of feeling overwhelmed searching for supplies, they can quickly grab what they need and stay focused on reading and writing.
