My Students

My students are amazing and interesting individuals with Autism in grades Kindergarten through Second Grade. We are in a suburb of SC, in a small town. I have 11 students of varying backgrounds and all have special needs. Each student in my classroom brings their own individual strengths and needs to my classroom. They say when you have met one child with Autism, you have met one child with Autism. This is such a true statement. They are all beautifully unique. One common need that they all share is sensory processing and integration assistance. In order to help fulfill all my students' sensory needs, I decided to open up a project to purchase sensory tools to support their learning in my classroom.

My Project

I teach children with Autism and their sensory processing needs sometimes get in the way of their learning. In order to help my students be more successful in my classroom, the items I am requesting are two weighted vests. Weighted vests provide my students with constant deep pressure when they are seeking to be calmed and to organize proprioceptive input. The result is that my students are better able to regulate their behavioral responses and focus in my classroom. Please consider sponsoring my class to fulfill the sensory needs of my students.
