My students are definitely something special. I have 16+ 1st-5th grade exceptional learners in my room each day. Our smaller class size allows for a wide range of differentiation. Students are working at their own pace and love to be challenged.
My students always give their best effort and strive for excellence.
I hold my students to high standards and expect them to learn at an accelerated pace to get them college and career ready. These student have the potential to make a huge impact in this world with your help!
My Project
History is a perfect subject to help take school from something your child has to do every day, to showing him/her what they get to do, by making learning come alive. I never liked History in school because I was exposed to the sitting and listening method of teaching. We read from history text books that were boring, and to be honest, full of dates that I didn't pay much attention to because I didn't see the point. By making history exciting for my students it will become meaningful. Students need to know the purpose of what we are asking them to learn. By providing them with text that interests them they will become engaged and gain a desire to learn more. I've carefully selected trade books that align with the district curriculum covering topics such as: American Revolution, Signing of the Constitution, 3 branches of government, Bill of Rights, etc. These text are full of rich vocabulary and vibrant pictures that will make history exciting for all my students. These books will be used as read-alouds, resources for creating our history projects and for reading pleasure to spark interest for upcoming units. However, since I teach a wide range of learners ranging from grades 1-5, the topics covered vary and materials needed can get pricey. I can't do it without your help!
