My Project
Imagine how you would be if you suddenly had to move to a different country, one in which everyone speaks a language you did not know. Now imagine that you have moved there before you have learned to read or speak. Many of my students are in this situation every day.
My students need tons of practice using English in all four modalities, speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Many are too shy or just lack confidence and rarely speak in class. In addition, most of my students speak English quite well but struggle with academic writing. With these whiteboards and binders, even my most anxious students will have opportunities to be "heard" and practice their academic English writing skills while staying organized. I will also be able to see if all of my students understand the skills that I teach each day.
It can be difficult to check in with each student every day to make sure they understand.
At times, the most confident students are the only ones who answer questions in class. These whiteboards will allow me to see, at a glance, who "gets it" and who needs more support. The binders will allow students not only to add materials daily but keep materials organized from unit to unit and the ability to reference them when needed.
