Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every Friday, my students receive their reading and math homework. Over the week, they should complete their homework at home and return it to school. The majority of these children do not have materials at home to do their work.
Most of my students work below grade level and need the extra learning practice at home; I want to provide them with school supplies so they can complete their homework.
Most of my students live in studio apartments and do not have a desk to do their homework. Most of these children do not know how to read or write yet. These students started school with a lack of exposure to print, language, and fun experiences that every child should have.
My students need supplies like folders, dry eraser markers, and pencil cases to persevere in their work at home and catch up on grade level. These children need nurture, care, and determination to meet their full potential.
It is not easy to complete grade content when you are two years below; having school supplies at home can help students stay on track and keep believing in themselves. Small steps can lead to a full journey...
