About My Students

The amazing student submitting this project is Xally. This soon to be high schoolers is smart, funny, hard-working, and, in her own words, independent. She values friendship, and she wants to put this value into action! She is a thoughtful and caring individual who wants to make a difference at our school.

This student has a lot of leadership potential, and in this project, she really shows how much she cares about helping out a friend. Xally decided to write a grant for a friend who is in need of essential supplies. She wants to show love to her friend whom she has known since 4th grade. Xally would appreciate your help!

This student is developing academic and social-emotional skills by engaging with this project . Xally developing writing skills as she expresses her project idea and tells why it is important. This student is developing empathy by putting herself in the shoes of her friend and reaching out to get her friend the essential supplies all students need for school. In the process, she is learning how to express her ideas in her second language, English. She is also learning how to write a grant, a skill which she will need when she applies for college scholarships. She has already learned to take initiative...Xally came to me at lunch today and asked if she could submit this project for her friend. Wonderful!

In Their Own Words

I would like to help my friend because her family has been struggling financially, and I like helping my friends out. I like knowing my friends feel good, so I want her to have what she needs for school. My goal is to help her feel good about coming to school, so I want to get her some shoes, a jacket, some pants, and some other school clothes. She is going to look great for school!

I'm so happy to help out this friend because she has been a friend for a few years. Helping someone out is special for me because I know I'm doing something right. My friend has a working dad and a stay at home mom, and they sometimes need all of their money for rent. I am being a leader by noticing what this student needs and trying to find a solution. I am writing the grant, and if it gets funded, I will make sure my friend gets the school clothes.

This will help her in many different ways. Her worries about what to wear will go away, and she wont have to struggle as much. I love seeing my friends happy, and I know it will make a difference in her life and her learning if she has these essential things. Thank you!
