Hooray! This project is fully funded

I am the third grade teacher of 20 amazing and diverse students in the Edgewater community in Chicago. It may sound ridiculous to you that pencil sharpening could actually be a worry in my classroom, but in the age of No Child Left Behind, every second counts. Currently, our pencil sharpener is on its last legs (to put it kindly). It jams, overheats, and in general takes far too much of the pencil to finally get to the point. I am only allowed 5 instructional hours with my students each day (when you take out lunch, one special, and transition time). Having a reliable and durable pencil sharpener for my students to use might give us a few extra minutes each day. These minutes make a huge difference to my kids in whether or not they get to hear the end of a chapter in their favorite read aloud story or whether they get a few extra minutes to play a math game. Thank you for taking the time to read this grant. Sharp pencils would mean the world to my kids!
