This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students and I are committed to their future success and have demonstrated this by continuously participating in our live virtual classes 5x a week, participating and turning in work through their Google Classroom. We continued with our Domestic and Personal Skills training through live cooking classes on Zoom, learning to make their beds every morning, help wash clothes, setting the table, taking out the trash, and being helpful around the house with chores.
I am proud to say that all my students surprised even their families and showed them how much more they can learn and are willing to learn when challenged with high expectations.
Together with my wonderful paraprofessionals, we're all continuing to learn different online platforms like Flipgrid, Zoom, Pear Deck, and more.
Sadly, though, I am often getting kicked out of our own class or having problems with Google Classroom and different apps because my own Thinkpad is more outdated than the technology used by the rest of the class. I don't even have Adobe which is something that a lot of the apps need. Our district is not in the best financial situation so I am reaching out to our wonderful donors.
Help me help my students better. We'd really appreciate it.
My Project
I've applied for projects before to supply my students with what they need. I even had to add some materials here for the past project that got funded for them. This time, this technology is for me so that I will be able to deliver better Zoom class experiences with my students. With a new Apple computer, I will be able to use a lot more platforms that can be more accessible for students because I will have all the tools necessary to be able to use the apps.
My district tries their best but is in dire financial need, and I would rather they provide what my students need first, and then I'll try to get mine.
I have a lot of parents and friends who gave support knowing that we use our own personal funds to do what's best for our students.
My students have me and a wonderful staff, and we are willing to do everything we can. We have the curriculum and platforms so our students can access the curriculum. We just need fewer technical problems to ensure that there is equity in class and that our students' access to the curriculum and needs are met.
