This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 6th grader writers are creative and inquisitive - during any lesson, they are curious to learn more and value the information and knowledge they've gained. So far this year we've focused on identifying relevant information in topics surrounding young activists, classic poets, and their personal favorite: video games.
My 6th grade writers are always willing to share their knowledge with each other and are proud to showcase their creativity!
Writing helps them voice their opinions, thoughts, feelings, and mastery of a topic. Student-opinion articles that have been written by their peers help create a communicative and open-minded culture within our classroom. With each lesson, their confidence in their writing grows and we hope to continue to cultivate outspoken and confident leaders!
My Project
These resources will help students keep their writing notebooks and annotating tools in class for easy access. The standard we are focused on this quarter is: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.6.1: Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence. Students need to learn organizational skills in order to properly annotate and find relevant evidence that will help them state their claim.
Each material donated will be used to enhance student engagement and understanding!
My 6th graders will use the highlighters to annotate their article, white boards and markers for review, sketch books for graphic organizing topic sentences and main ideas, and colored pencils for color coding their writing notebooks. Argumentative writing is such a significant part of their education and each material will serve a proper purpose for enhancing their writing.
