My Students

My kids are brilliant, inquisitive children, many of whom live in the nearby housing projects and homeless shelters. Their parents work extremely long hours to provide for their children, but many of my students come from homes where English is not the primary language. My students work very hard, and that hard work pays off: many of them attend some of the best high schools in New York City!

My children never cease to amaze me.

When describing the relationship between two characters in a fictional text, one student said, "Oh, you mean they have a symbiotic relationship?" Symbiotic relationship? I was floored. It was - once again - an example of how my students teach one another, and me, as much as I teach them.

My Project

On September 24th of this year, many wonderful donors on this site came together and donated enough money to help my co-teacher, Ms. Hess, fund a request for a projector, a projection screen and a mount for our classroom.

However, our school is unable to cover the cost of installation, and without your generosity, we will be unable to use the products you provided in the near future.

The projector will allow us to split our class into two, providing specialized, individualized instruction for all of our students, both general education students as well as students with special needs.
