My students need to move, wiggle, and stand to work and focus. Tray tables allow students to stand and move while working. Wobble cushions allow students to move and sit in a way that aids focus.

My Students
Sixth graders are amazing. They're young enough that they're still enthusiastic about everything and they're old enough to be aware that the choices they make every day will impact them in the future.
A big part of my job as a sixth grade teacher is building the skills of self-awareness and self-advocacy in each of my students.
I teach them to think about and understand what they need to be successful and how to get the supports they've identified.
My classroom is a diverse grouping of students learning English as a new language, students with physical and learning disabilities, students from all five boroughs of New York City, and students from every socio-economic background you can imagine. What do all of these kids have in common? Each and every one of them can lear. Each and every one of them can be successful. Each and every one of them is cared for in my classroom. Each and every one of them is special to me.
My Project
Sixth graders have a lot of energy and they're really not built for sitting quietly for long periods of time.
I've learned over the years that kids who seem unfocused in class really want to focus and learn and participate in the class activities, but they need some support to do so.
Tray tables can convert traditional desks into standing desks, allowing students to choose to stand and move in order to focus. Wobble cushions can be placed on a chair for students who do not want to stand but need some movement in order to stay focused. Giving wiggly students choices of strategies and tools they can use to find their focus will let them participate more fully in our learning activities.
