As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are passionate, adventurous, and resourceful.
As fifth graders, my students will soon be entering middle school. I want them to leave elementary school knowing they are capable of achieving their dreams. Facilitating a nurturing, engaging classroom is the cornerstone to their academic and emotional success!
Our district recently adopted CompassLearning Odyssey, which is a digital curriculum students access via the computer. Students move through their personalized learning path and assigned courses, which include instructional content and formative assessment.
Students are taught with reading texts, videos and interactive animations.
My students need a class set of headphones to access this engaging content. Odyssey uses a diagnostic to offer prescriptive instruction through a personalized learning path that can be both monitored and manually altered by the teacher. Odyssey is aligned to Common Core and some state standards. Data from the Scantron Performance Series and Northwest Education Association Measures of Academic Progress (NWEA MAP) tests can be imported into the program to create a personalized learning path.
