My Students
My kindergarten students really love to pick out books from our classroom library. They each have a special book box to put their selections in for use during small group reading time. However, we just do not have enough books in our library so that each child can have a good amount in their box
The kids in my class this year are very special.
In my 20 years of teaching, I have not come across a group of kindergarten kids who are so kind to each other, helpful, and so eager to learn new things, especially reading!! They really deserve to have some great books to read. I feel terrible that with the economy the way it is, I was not able to order books for our classroom library this year.
My Project
My goal has always been to create a lifelong love of reading in my students. Receiving the new leveled readers and theme books would really help to accomplish that goal. Being able to fill their book boxes with books that are at just the right level is so important for new readers. I know my students would be very excited to receive these new books. The book bins would also be very helpful for keeping our school library organized and neat so that the kids can easily find the books they are looking for.
