My students need these everyday supplies including a pencil sharpener, crayons, and colored pencils in order to complete work efficiently. These supplies will help my students continue to work with confidence and without worry.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In my 7th Grade classroom, there are many different personalities and learners. It is an environment in which I hope to provide not only educational skills, but life lessons as well. My students come to school with problems no 12 to 14 year old should deal with, and my hope is to make them feel safe.
My students range from non-English speakers to second generation immigrants.
Learning in the English language is a struggle for most, and they have not had the support from their broken homes to excel in school as they should. I have students who have little at home, and are able to succeed in school, and I have children who come from similar home situations that struggle immensely. It is my goal to help all the children I have to feel comfortable at school and want to learn. I want my classroom to be a place they do not have to worry about struggling, and be proud of themselves in every aspect.
My Project
Interactive learning is extremely important in a technologically driven society. The markers I requested will assist in allowing me to use more interactive lessons on a daily basis, where the children can use the markers to write responses and brainstorm in small or large group. This is a way to step away from pen and paper and learn in a new way.
The crayons and colored pencils are necessary for a number of different projects throughout the year that my students create. They enjoy showing their creative sides and deserve materials to do so. The highlighters are extremely important for close reading, and help students to interact with the text to better understand its context. The pencil sharpener is a necessity in my classroom. We spend 5 minutes of each day trying to fix the "sharpener of the week." I do not have the funds to buy a really nice sharpener and try my best, but this sharpener will help to keep my students pencils sharpened and less stress for us all.
I believe having these materials in my classroom will help my students with the basic skills they need to succeed.
These are added tools they can use to enhance their learning, and enjoy using all of these in many different ways. The less they have to worry about not having supplies for class, the more they can focus on getting the information they need to succeed.
