Help! We Need A Safe Place For Our Materials And Beautiful Artwork!

My classroom is a "blended" Early Childhood Special Education and Head Start classroom. Currently, we serve 20 children who are either living in extreme poverty or have minor to moderate developmental disabilities. Our classroom is quite small and storage space is extremely limited! Because our classroom is located in between the school based health center (which serves the public) and the gym, we are unable to safely store our equipment and artwork in the hallway. I love to do “messy” painting activities with the children and watch them experiment with colors, lines, textures, and different painting tools. Unfortunately, we do not have adequate storage or drying space for our artwork. When we leave artwork in the hallway to dry it at times has been ruined by people who are in the hallways. It is hard to explain to a three-year-old that the masterpiece that they worked so hard on was destroyed while we were out at recess. You can help us solve this problem with a drying rack that could be pulled out and placed in the classroom during days of messy art activities. This rack allows for storage of 15 pieces of artwork at a time. Also, there are special drying trays that go with the racks that allow us to work with the children on recognizing their names and prevent the problem of someone having their artwork ruined because their friend really enjoyed the blue paint so much that the blue paint was dripping and ended up all over their piece of art. We desperately need a mobile cart that could allow us to store more equipment in a section of our classroom that MUST be off limits to children due to the lack of light in the area, but it will allow teachers and assistants to rotate equipment while keeping it safe from going missing. This would allow us to make the most of our situation and provide some much needed extra storage in our classroom in what is now wasted space. Thank you for browsing through my proposal! I cannot accurately explain in words how much a mobile cart will help de-clutter our space without worry of our prized materials going missing! With your help we can continue to make beautiful artwork on a daily basis and be assured it will stay beautiful until it is ready to go home!
