This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic and eager to learn. They are motivated to gain knowledge and look forward to new challenges. My class is full of energy. They have a love for learning which inspires me. They explore their world through hands-on experiences and work to create learning opportunities that are sparked by my students' interest, questions, and building upon their prior knowledge. I would love to bring more materials into my classroom to enhance my curious learners. In my class, we spend time ensuring that students have the opportunity to teach each other. They have opportunities to share what they find by learning through one another.
My school is a K-8 public school in a low-income community located southeast of Chicago.
The majority of the students receive free lunch and many deal with a lot of challenges in their community.
My Project
Our classroom is in need of a color printer with laser ink cartridges. This will help me to print a lot of Reading A to Z books for my students to use for independent and guided reading in color. They have been reading books in black and white that I have to print outside the classroom, but I feel that my students would love to see these books in color and I would be able to print them in my own classroom, which will be very convenient for my students and I. This will be a great way to start our school year.
