My students need 30 wireless mice to use with our new mobile computer lab.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"It would be wonderful if I can inspire others, who are struggling to realize their dreams, to say 'if this country kid could do it, let me keep slogging away'." so said Douglas Engelbart, inventor of the computer mouse. I want to be a teacher who inspires her students in science and technology.
My students attend one of the oldest middle schools in a semi-rural town in Arizona.
Even though we have a major city close by, most of my students have never gone there. My students face numerous challenges on a daily basis; many come from lower income homes that are struggling to get by, let alone worry about education. My job is to inspire kids to become scientists, to dream big, and that with an education there is nothing they can't do. My greatest joy is to talk to a kid who didn't like science before tell me how much he loves it now, and that they are now starting to expand on experiments we've done in class at home.
My Project
Our STEM Academy just received the donation of a mobile computer lab. However, they did not come with wireless mice. The kids are having a terrible time creating 3-D designs in the CAD program. It is difficult to manipulate graphic design programs with a laptop's touchpad. Our students will use the mice in conjunction with the laptops to create 3D designs in TinkerCad, a computer aided drafting program. They will also create videos for their science and engineering projects.
The long term goal of the project is to develop middle school students who can successfully advance to the high school with a solid foundation in science and engineering.
Our school is an STEM focus school, and we love giving our students engineering and technology challenges. Kids love doing science and engineering projects. Kids who were never interested in science before this, are having excited conversations about how they can create something in CAD and see the 3D printer build their design
